Brainlings.com is a place for discussion, reviews, development of ideas, appreciation, and education on topics related to health, psychology, technology, finance, money, philosophy, science, and basically whatever else I find interesting. Our authors are professionals in technical fields and have a fairly wide net of knowledge, from protein folding to nutritional supplements, and perhaps a few things in between. Discussions are encouraged between our authors and our readers and we enjoy questions and comments about our articles.
As individuals in the science and technical fields, we are accustomed (or perhaps cursed), to doing hours of research before making any decision in the lab. This thoroughness often carries over to our home lives, where we find ourselves destined to spend many hours of online research before purchasing a new camera, toothbrush, or dietary supplement. The benefit to Brainlings readers is that we post our findings in summarized, critical, and often well referenced articles. The conclusions and analysis of our authors are intended to be a best-effort attempt to lay out the facts and to aid in making a choice based on the information available. The author is often doing the research because he/she intends on making the purchase or is interested in the topic him/her self.
Aside from stand alone articles, we also have ongoing series of articles related to specific projects that we have a long term interest in.
Current Brainlings Projects:
“Living forever”: Topics related to health and longevity with the goal of providing the information needed to live as long and healthy as possible.
“Making a Brain”: Topics related to my ongoing quest to simulate a neural net on my desktop computer capable of impressing the ladies. This often results in tutorials or discussions of computer science topics.
“Towards Financial Independence”: These articles will document my thoughts and actions towards my goal of financial independence. These topics can vary from stock tips (With the accompanying logic) and analysis on the process of other websites I’m trying to put together for profit.
